Sixteen pilgrims injured as Tata Winger rams truck on NH-16 in Balasore

Jaleswar: A fatal accident took place near Kundupur Street on National Highway No. 16, Basta Police Station, Balasore District.

A Tata Winger carrying pilgrims returning to West Bengal after darshan at Sreejagannath in Puri rammed into the rear of a truck in front of it.

Sixteen pilgrims were seriously injured in this accident.

On receiving the information, the patrolling police and fire brigade immediately reached the spot.

According to reports, the front of the Winger was destroyed in the accident, while the driver and the passenger sitting in the front were crushed.

Along with the two critically injured, others were rescued by the police and immediately taken to the hospital.

All the passengers were seriously injured. The condition of two of them was critical, and they were shifted to Balasore Hospital.

While all the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, two have been shifted to Balasore Hospital as their condition is critical.

After the incident, Basta police reached the spot, secured the accident site, and are continuing the investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
