Sambhav Launches Interactive E-Book on Sustainability After Odisha’s First Student Olympiad

Bhubaneswar: Environmental organisation Sambhav has unveiled an innovative E-book on survival and sustainability for school students, marking a significant step toward promoting ecological awareness among young learners. The launch follows the successful conclusion of Odisha’s inaugural Olympiad on Survival and Sustainability held in the capital city.

Hosted at DAV Public School, Unit-8, the Olympiad brought together 147 students from both Odia- and English-medium schools across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The event encouraged participants to explore key issues related to environmental protection, sustainable living, and future survival challenges.

The newly introduced digital resource, titled “Info-Action Picture Book,” has been developed in both Odia and English to make environmental learning more engaging and accessible. Unlike traditional study materials, the E-book blends educational content with practical activities, offering students not only the correct answers to Olympiad questions but also insightful information and hands-on tasks aimed at encouraging critical thinking and real-world action.

Outstanding performers in the Olympiad were honoured with certificates and trophies during the fifth memorial programme of Padma Prof. Radhamohan. To further motivate young environmental champions, each winner has been awarded an Experiential Learning Fellowship of ₹10,000.

The fellowship is designed to provide students with opportunities to directly engage with nature and sustainability initiatives, helping them gain practical experience beyond classroom lessons.

Addressing the gathering, noted environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Sabarmatee highlighted the importance of nurturing environmentally responsible citizens from an early age. She said the initiative seeks to transform children into active participants in environmental conservation by equipping them with the skills and awareness needed to address future challenges.

According to volunteers Tushar and Prapti, the E-book will be distributed among schools across Odisha to support environmental education and deepen students’ understanding of ecology, biodiversity, and sustainable development.

Through the initiative, Sambhav hopes to inspire a new generation of informed and responsible young citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to a more sustainable future.
