Kalbaisakhi rain to continue across Odisha for next 4 days

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that Kalbaisakhi rain will continue across Odisha fro the next four days. The state gets relief from the high heat and humid conditions thanks to the occasional bouts of rain brought by the Kalbaisakhi. Along with rain, the Kalbaisakhi is also warned to cause thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds for several districts.
The weather department has issued Orange and Yellow alert for Kalbaisakhi activity for several districts of Odisha.
As per latest weather alert, 23 districts will likely receive rain, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds on Sunday. The current weather pattern is likely to continue marked by intense heat and humidity during the first half of the day, followed by development of dark clouds and rain later in the afternoon.
Although, the continuing Kalbaisakhi activity is expected to moderate temperatures in several areas, hot and humid conditions are likely to persist across the state for the next four days.
Meanwhile, the temperature will likely rise by 2-3 degrees in the next three days.
Bhubaneswar got wreaked by heavy rainfall and strong winds on Saturday. Though, it brought down the temperature significantly, it also caused widespread damage in the city as roads were blocked with fallen trees, several vehicles were hit by the falling trees and roofs were blown away in the gusty wind. Following the rain, the city’s temperature, which had soared to 40 degrees Celsius during the morning, dropped to 26 degrees Celsius after the rain, marking a decline of 14 degrees Celsius within a short span.
The heat index which had reached 50 degrees Celsius before the rainfall, dropped down to 28 degrees Celsius afterwards.
Meanwhile, Monsoon is predicted to reach the state in next 6-8 days, as per weather predictions. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that the Monsoon will likely touch Odisha by June 10-12.
