National Award-winning Malayalam actor Salim Kumar passes away

Kochi: National Award-winning Malayalam Actor Salim Kumar passed away at a hospital after suffering a heart attack in Kochi yesterday during the evening time. He died at the age of 56.
Early the same day, the actor was admitted to a hospital where he was undergoing treatment but his health started deteriorating after which this heartbreaking incident took place.
Salim made his debut with Ishtamanu Nooru Vattam in 1997. His golden era was seen in 2000s particularly for his comic roles in the films. He has appeared in 300 films in his 22 years of acting career.
Salim Kumar has won a state level and a national level film award in 2011, Kerala state film award for second best actor after his performance in Lal Jose’s Achanurangatha Veedu in 2006.
In 2017, he also became a director, the film Karutha Joothan won the Best Story at the Kerala State Film Awards.
Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan offered his condolences for the actor at Paravur Town Hall in Ernakulam. He said, “Salim Kumar was the pride of North Paravur. Born into an ordinary family that faced poverty and hardships, he rose to the pinnacle of Indian cinema by winning the National Award. He was a rare talent who even reached the Oscar nomination stage through his work.”
Several actors who have worked with the late actor have paid their last respect. Actors includes Dileep, Vineeth, Jayasurya, Narayanankutty.
Salim Kumar leaves behind his wife Sunitha and two kids.
