Bhadrak: JE Under Vigilance Scanner

Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday launched simultaneous searches at four locations linked to Sri Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, a Junior Engineer posted in the CAD Division, Bhadrak, over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The searches were conducted on May 14 following search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore. A team comprising four DSPs, four Inspectors and supporting Vigilance staff carried out the operation across multiple locations in Odisha.
According to Vigilance sources, raids were conducted at Mohanty’s triple-storeyed residential building located at Samaraipur in Bhadrak town. Officials also searched his double-storeyed ancestral house at Narasingdiha village under Basta area of Balasore district.
Apart from the residential properties, Vigilance officials also conducted searches at his office in Bhadrak and at the residence of one of his relatives in Malipada area of Bhubaneswar.
The anti-corruption agency suspects that the engineer may have accumulated assets beyond his legitimate income sources. Officials are currently verifying documents, financial records, property details and other valuables recovered during the ongoing searches.
Sources said the operation is part of Odisha Vigilance’s continued crackdown on corruption and illegal wealth accumulation among public servants in the state. Further details regarding the value of assets detected are expected to emerge after completion of the searches and official assessment.
The investigation is still underway, and Odisha Vigilance is likely to release a detailed report once the searches are completed.
