National Lok Adalat to Be Held on May 9 Across Khordha District Courts

Bhubaneswar: The second National Lok Adalat of 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on May 9 across all trial and divisional court premises in Khordha district, aiming to promote speedy and amicable settlement of disputes.

Informing about the initiative, Salomi Sahu, Secretary of the Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bhubaneswar, said that a wide range of pending cases will be taken up during the Lok Adalat. These include compoundable criminal cases, plea bargaining matters, cheque bounce cases, debt recovery disputes, motor accident claims, traffic challans, labour disputes, and issues related to public utility services such as electricity and water.

In addition, matrimonial and family disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition matters, employment and pension-related issues, revenue disputes, intellectual property cases, consumer grievances, and other pending civil and criminal matters before district and sub-divisional courts will also be addressed.

The Lok Adalat will also provide an opportunity for the public to file pre-litigation cases that are not currently pending before any court. Such cases include loan recovery disputes, succession matters, traffic challans including e-challan cases, labour and employment issues, utility service disputes, revenue and land-related conflicts, as well as commercial and arbitration matters. Disputes related to tenancy, matrimonial issues, and domestic violence can also be submitted for mediation and settlement.

Citizens can submit their cases through the District Legal Services Authority or the Taluk Legal Services Committees well in advance to ensure their inclusion during the Lok Adalat proceedings.

The DLSA has urged people to make use of this platform, emphasizing that the process is free of cost and that the decisions taken in Lok Adalats are final and binding on all parties involved.
