B.Tech Student from Bhubaneswar Goes Missing While Bathing at Puri Beach

Puri: A second-year B.Tech student from Bhubaneswar went missing while bathing in the sea at Puri Beach on Sunday afternoon, prompting an extensive search operation by lifeguards and local authorities.
The missing student has been identified as Animesh Sahu, a Computer Science student at a private institute in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, Animesh had come to Puri with two friends for a short trip. In the afternoon, the three went for a swim near Swargadwar Beach when Animesh was reportedly swept away by strong waves and rip currents.
Following the incident, lifeguards immediately launched a search operation. The search was carried out across several coastal stretches, including Puri, Pentakota, Nuanai, Beleswar, Ramachandi, and Chandrabhaga beaches. However, despite continuous efforts since Sunday, the student remains untraced.
Puri District Collector Dibyajyoti Parida said adequate deployment of lifeguards would be ensured to improve safety for visitors at Puri Beach, as such incidents continue to occur frequently. He also urged tourists and locals to strictly follow safety guidelines while entering the sea.
