Odisha Police Launch ‘Cyber Kavach’ Drive to Curb Cyber Fraud, Recover ₹2 Crore

Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on digital crime, Odisha Police, under the direction of DGP YB Khurania, have intensified their campaign against cyber fraud and mule bank accounts through the ongoing ‘Cyber Kavach’ operation. The initiative is being coordinated by IGP Central Range, Cuttack, targeting fraudulent networks exploiting online banking systems.
So far, authorities have registered 19 cases across six districts—Puri, Khordha, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, Cuttack, and Jajpur—and verified 824 accounts linked to suspicious transactions. The operation has successfully traced approximately ₹2 crore in fraudulent proceeds, with 185 notices issued to concerned individuals.
In Nayagarh, eight bank accounts associated with cheque withdrawal fraud are under detailed investigation.
Police officials stated that the drive aims to dismantle mule account networks and safeguard citizens from cybercrime, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to a secure digital environment.
