Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi congratulated the India Under-19 Cricket Team on their emphatic victory at the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, where the junior side secured a record-extending sixth title.

India clinched the coveted championship with a commanding 100-run win over England in the final held at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Friday. The victory was propelled by a remarkable innings from 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored a blistering 175 runs off 80 balls — the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final — helping India post a massive 411/9 before bowling out England for 311.

In a message on his X handle, CM Majhi praised the young cricketers for their talent, discipline and determination. He said their performance has not only brought immense pride to the nation but also inspired countless aspiring sportspersons across the country. Extending his best wishes, he also lauded the support staff for their role in the team’s success.
