Madhya Pradesh: Plane Clips Power Line, Crash Averted

A major accident was narrowly avoided in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district on Monday evening when a training aircraft struck a high-voltage power line during flight. The plane fell immediately after the collision, causing panic in the area, but alert villagers rushed to the spot and safely rescued the pilot. Video of the incident is rapidly going viral on social media. The incident has raised serious questions about safety protocols and alleged negligence.

Training Aircraft Collides With High-Voltage Line

The incident took place in Sukatra, under Kurai block, where a training aircraft belonging to Red Bird Aviation hit a 33 kV power line around 6:30 PM. According to eyewitnesses, the aircraft suddenly began descending and its wing touched the high-voltage line. A loud noise created panic for a few seconds. Fortunately, no major damage was reported.

Pilot Lost Control Mid-Flight

Locals present at the spot said the training aircraft seemed to go out of control during flight practice. They reported seeing sparks when the plane collided with the wires. Realising the pilot was in trouble, villagers immediately ran to the crash site and pulled him out safely.

Previous Accidents, But No Action Taken

Villagers alleged that this is not the first such incident. Two earlier training aircraft reportedly overturned on the runway during takeoff. Despite repeated accidents, neither the aviation company nor the administration has taken responsibility. Locals say the ongoing negligence could lead to a major disaster.

Flights Too Close to High-Voltage Lines

Residents claim that safety standards around the airstrip are almost non-existent. Aircraft are reportedly flying dangerously close to 33 kV lines, which could trigger a major explosion anytime. They believe this risk threatens not only the pilot but the entire surrounding area.

Villagers say that had the aircraft remained stuck in the wires even for a few more seconds, the consequences could have been disastrous—possibly costing the pilot’s life and disrupting power in the entire region. Many called it a clear case of human negligence.

Demand for High-Level Safety Investigation

Repeated incidents have triggered anger among locals, who are now demanding a high-level inquiry into the airstrip’s operations and the training company’s safety practices. They warn that if safety norms continue to be ignored, a major loss of life is inevitable in the future.
