BMC to Conduct Street Dog Census in Bhubaneswar from Sept 17

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will launch a citywide street dog census from September 17 to 24, covering all 67 wards under its jurisdiction.

The enumeration will be conducted daily between 5 am and 7 pm, with teams visiting every street and lane to collect accurate data on the street dog population.

According to officials, the exercise aims to enhance animal welfare measures, strengthen sterilisation programmes, curb the spread of diseases like rabies, and reduce traffic-related incidents involving stray dogs.
