5 Months’ Pension Dues Pending in Odisha, Govt Promises Payment by October

The Odisha government has assured that beneficiaries who have been waiting for their pension payments under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme will receive their pending dues by October.
Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Odisha Assembly that 20,33,959 people in the state are currently covered under the pension scheme.
He said payments to some beneficiaries have been held up for nearly five months because of technical problems. The government has taken note of the issue and is working to resolve the payment-related difficulties.

According to the minister, the State Finance Department, Central Government and treasury authorities are coordinating efforts to fix the technical issues and release the outstanding pension amounts.
The government is working to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their accumulated arrears along with their regular monthly pension by October, Gond said.
