Woman ASI arrests fraud fiancée in Assam

Guwahati, May 6: Those who say that women are soft and not committed to duty have been proved wrong in the past and will always be proved wrong. There are many brave hearts in the women police who possess the strength to arrest even their ‘criminal’ fiancées if need be. This has happened in Assam and with a woman Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police who arrested her fiancée—Rana Pagag–for fraudulent acts.

The ASI of Nawagaon area in Assam Jonmail Rava, recently arrested a man who had furnished fake certificates to solicit marriage with her. The fraudster also duped people of money on the pretext of proving them jobs.

According to reports, Pagag had duped several people and collected huge money following which complaints were lodged against him. He claimed to be a Public Relation Officer of Oil India.

The ASI said she had met Pagag during her posting at Majuli in 2021. After a brief friendship, Pagag had proposed to her. Their engagement was solemnized in November 2021 and marriage was fixed for November this year, she said.

She said fake indentification proofs, documents, laptop and cheque books have been seized from the accused.
