Odisha Skaters Shine at 3rd India Skate Games 2026, Mark Historic Participation

Bhubaneswar: The Skating Association of Odisha has announced a proud and historic performance by its athletes at the 3rd India Skate Games 2026, held in Chandigarh from April 22 to 28. Ten skaters from across the state represented Odisha, showcasing determination, skill, and competitive spirit on the national stage.

Among the standout performers, Arnav Padhan from Bargarh district clinched two bronze medals in Inline Alpine and Inline Downhill events in the sub-junior (12–15) category. Another notable achievement came from Ojas Sahyata of Bargarh, who secured a silver medal in Inline Alpine in the junior (15–18) category. These achievements mark a significant milestone for Odisha skating.

The Junior Girls Team also delivered a strong performance. The team comprised Madhusmita Panda (Boudh), Ankita Kisan (Sundergarh), Sai Samridhoi Sahoo (Angul), Adyasha Kumura (Jharsuguda), Disha Kumari Saideo (Jharsuguda), Akrite Arunima Patra (Balangir), Anwiti Patra (Balangir), and Apoorva Nanda (Koraput). The squad impressed audiences with their performance against top competitors, including a three-time national gold medal-winning team from Uttar Pradesh.

The team was guided by Team Manager Ashutosh Nanda, Lady Team Manager Nafisha Begam, and Chief Coach Nimish Kumar Sharma, whose leadership ensured discipline, confidence, and unity among the players.

Describing the participation as a turning point, the association said the performance reflects Odisha’s growing strength in skating. It added that beyond medals, the achievement represents a revival of passion and competitive spirit, inspiring a new generation of athletes.

With this performance, Odisha appears poised to strengthen its position in the national skating arena.
