Vivo copies Apple iOS 26’s Liquid Glass design in OriginOS 6 update

Vivo has launched its new OriginOS 6 in China, alongside BlueOS 3 for smartwatches. The Android 16-based update will debut on the Vivo X300 Pro and X300 smartphones. A broader rollout for older Vivo and iQOO devices will begin in November 2025. The company has reworked its interface design, introducing new animations and AI capabilities that draw clear parallels to Apple’s Liquid Glass design from iOS 26.

Design inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass
OriginOS 6 introduces a visual overhaul across the home screen, lock screen, and app interfaces. The redesigned layout features curved icons, transparent layers, and dynamic depth effects reminiscent of Apple’s recent UI philosophy. A resizable clock widget automatically adjusts based on notifications, while new blur transitions and circular elements enhance the overall look.

Vivo’s “Atomic Island”—a feature similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island—allows users to control music, timers, and notifications directly from a floating interface. The update also adds a reworked control centre with customisable quick settings, layered notifications, and improved transitions designed to resemble fluid motion effects.

Performance and AI enhancements
Under the hood, Vivo has introduced the Blue River Smooth Engine to improve system stability and animation fluidity. It combines super-core computing and dual-rendering architecture to reduce lag and maintain consistent frame rates.

AI integration plays a central role in OriginOS 6. The system includes tools like Live Photo AI Removal, AI summary generation, and an upgraded Circle to Search 2.0 that lets users highlight objects to fetch contextual information instantly. The Live Photo AI Removal tool can erase unwanted objects even from motion photos, while the AI image editor offers enhancements like resolution upscaling and background removal.

BlueOS 3 for smartwatches
Alongside OriginOS 6, Vivo unveiled BlueOS 3 for its upcoming Vivo Watch 5 and iQOO Watch 5 models. The smartwatch OS brings extended battery life, new animations, and features like Blue Heart V calling and custom watch faces.

The OriginOS 6 update begins rolling out in November 2025, reaching all supported Vivo and iQOO models by May 2026.
