Vehicle Torched Over Alleged Illegal Cattle Transport in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Tension prevailed near the Bhatatira railway station level crossing under Sabarang police limits in Bhadrak district on Sunday after angry locals set a vehicle on fire over allegations of illegal cattle transportation.

According to preliminary reports, a van carrying cattle in cramped and inhumane conditions was intercepted by residents while it was moving from Sabarang towards Mirzapur. The animals were reportedly tied tightly inside the vehicle, raising suspicions of trafficking.

Infuriated by the situation, locals rescued more than six cattle from the van before setting it ablaze at the spot. The driver, however, managed to flee immediately after being confronted.

On receiving information, fire services personnel rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control.

Meanwhile, Sabarang police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
