Two Minor Girls Drown in Village Pond in Balasore

Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident unfolded in Bhuinpada village under Nuagaon Panchayat in Remuna block of Balasore district on Sunday morning, where two 10-year-old girls drowned while bathing in a pond.

The deceased have been identified as Annapurna Mallick (10), daughter of Sanjay Mallick, and Anyasha Mallick (10), daughter of Sujit Mallick. The two cousins had reportedly gone to the village pond around 11 am for a bath when they accidentally slipped and drowned.

Family members grew concerned after the girls went missing and later discovered them in the pond. They were immediately rescued and rushed to Nilagiri Subdivisional Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.

The heartbreaking incident has plunged both families and the entire village into mourning. A large number of relatives and locals gathered at the hospital as the news spread, creating an atmosphere of deep grief.

Police personnel visited both the incident site and the hospital. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the drowning.
