Sundargarh: 4 Arrested in Minor Girl Rape Case

Rourkela: The Sundargarh Police arrested four persons for facilitating the illegal delivery of a minor girl in Sundargarh district. The accused have been identified as Bisra government hospital pharmacist Sanat Kumar Mohanty, owner of a private nursing home Sanjay Kumar Panda, Mahavir Mahato, his brother, and prime accused Sanjit Mahato.

Sources said, Sanjit had allegedly raped and impregnated his domestic help in the year 2020. After which, he contacted Sanat, a pharmacist in the community health center (CHC) at Bisra to terminate the pregnancy. However, the pregnancy could not be aborted because it was too late for the same. Later, the girl delivered a baby, and the nursing home owner and a doctor lied to her that she had delivered a stillborn child and allegedly stole the baby from her.

After the girl came to know about her newborn baby being kept by the doctor, she filed a complaint at Bisra police station. The police along with a team of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) went to the doctor’s house and rescued the newborn girl while the doctor absconded the spot. Further investigation is underway to nab the accused doctor.
