SRC Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning for Odisha

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): In view of the Low pressure alert for several areas of the State, the Special Relief Commissioner issued an advisory for all Collectors in this regard.

In the letter, the SRC asked the Collectors to take steps to circulate the rainfall warning message among the public and closely monitor the situation. They have also been asked to take necessary action in case of any eventuality.

Quoting the Regional MeT Centre,  the SRC said a trough runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with low pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu to north coastal Odisha across coastal Andhra Pradesh and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level. A cyclonic circulation lies over gulf of Thailand and neighbourhood and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.

It is likely to emerge into south Andaman sea and under its influence, a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over south Andaman sea and neighbourhood by November 13 (tomorrow). It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over eastcentral & adjoin]ng southeast Bay of Bengal on November 15.
