Senior Writer & Translator Jugal Kishore Dutta Dies at 92

Bhubaneswar (Pramit Pramathes): Senior writer and translator Jugal Kishore Dutta passes away due to old age related illness. He was 92. He breathed his last at his residence in Bhubaneshwar today. He was born in Puri district on 24th December 1928.
He started writing in the year 1948. Since his college days he was a member in the editorial board of ‘Diganta Patrika’. During a long and rich literary career, Dutta had translated a number of famous Odia novels into Bengali as well as Bengali novels to Odia.
He was conferred with the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award in 1997 for translating the famous Bengali novel ‘Asami Hajir’. He had also received the Odisha Sahitya Akademi award for his Bengali novel ‘Jana Gana Mana’.
