Railways introduces more Trains for festival

Bhubaneswar: In order to help the passengers travel with ease during the busy festive weeks, the Indian Railways has made extra arrangements to run weekly festival special trains.

As informed by the Railways, it will run special weekly trains from Visakhapatnam to Shalimar and back. The services will be available till October 21/22.

  • From Visakhapatnam: Every Tuesday, 11:20 AM (till 21st October 2025)
  • From Shalimar: Every Wednesday, 5:00 AM (till 22nd October 2025)

These trains will make stops at Simhachalam, Vizianagaram, Chipurupalli, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Brahmapur, Balugaon, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kharagpur, and Santragachi.

The trains have the following coach options:

  • AC 2-Tier: 2 coaches
  • AC 3-Tier: 4 coaches
  • Sleeper Class: 7 coaches
  • General Second Class: 4 coaches
  • Second Class cum Luggage/Divyangjan: 1 coach

The Railways also informed that in line with its commitment to improve passenger convenience and regional connectivity, an experimental stoppage has been introduced for Train No. 20807/20808 Visakhapatnam–Amritsar–Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express at Belpahar station.

Train No. 20807 Visakhapatnam–Amritsar Hirakud Express will now halt at Belpahar at 15:02 hrs, departing at 15:04 hrs.

Likewise, Train No. 20808 Amritsar–Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express will halt at Belpahar at 06:44 hrs, departing at 06:46 hrs.

This new facility has been provided on an experimental basis to address the needs of local passengers and to further enhance connectivity in the region. Passengers are encouraged to make use of this new stop and share feedback on the service.

This apart, the Railway s rescheduled the Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Express due to late running of the link train. It said that Train No. 22840 Bhubaneswar –Rourkela Express, scheduled to depart from Bhubaneswar at 13:40 hrs on 08.09.2025, will now leave Bhubaneswar at 21:30 hrs on 08.09.2025.

Passengers are requested to kindly make note of this change and plan their journey accordingly.
