President Droupadi Murmu Wraps Up Three-Day Odisha Tour, Leaves for New Delhi

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday concluded her three-day visit to Odisha, capping off the tour with a visit to a Shiva temple in Ganjam district before returning to New Delhi.

Murmu began the final day of her itinerary by offering prayers at the Shiva temple near the Army Air Defence College at Golabandha, where she had stayed overnight. She had reached Ganjam on Tuesday aboard the Presidential Special Train after authorities opted for rail travel in view of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy rainfall across Odisha.

Following the temple visit, the President travelled to Bhubaneswar by the Presidential Special Train. Extensive security arrangements were made at Berhampur and Bhubaneswar railway stations to ensure the smooth movement of the presidential convoy. Ganjam Collector Keerthi Vasan V said elaborate security measures had been put in place throughout the visit.

From Bhubaneswar, President Murmu departed for New Delhi on a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft from Biju Patnaik International Airport. She was seen off by Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania and other senior officials.

During her three-day Odisha visit, the President participated in several official and religious programmes. She inaugurated Jagadguru Kripalu University in Cuttack and later travelled to Ganjam district, where she offered prayers at the revered Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine and the Shiva temple at Taptapani.

The visit combined official engagements with visits to prominent religious sites, reflecting the President’s continued association with Odisha’s educational, cultural and spiritual heritage.
