OMFED Raises Milk Procurement Price by ₹1 per Litre, Bringing Relief to Odisha Dairy Farmers

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at supporting dairy farmers, the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has announced a hike of ₹1 per litre in the milk procurement price across the state.
The revised rate has come into effect from May 1, 2026, increasing the price from ₹38.05 to ₹39.05 per litre. The decision is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to dairy farmers who have been grappling with rising production costs.

According to OMFED officials, the price revision was necessitated by the steady increase in expenses related to cattle feed, green fodder, hay, veterinary care, and overall livestock maintenance. Farmers had been urging authorities to review procurement prices in light of these escalating costs.
The federation stated that the hike is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance farmers’ income and ensure the long-term sustainability of the dairy sector in Odisha. Officials reiterated their commitment to taking farmer-centric measures and strengthening the cooperative dairy framework in the state.
The announcement, made on the occasion of International Labour Day, is being viewed as a timely intervention to support rural livelihoods and reinforce the economic stability of thousands of dairy farming families across Odisha.
