Odisha Registers Country’s Lowest Infant Mortality Rate

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday congratulated State’s Health, Women & Child Welfare and Mission Shakti departments for achieving drastic reduction in infant mortality rate. The infant mortality rate in State fell by 36 points between 2005 and 2020– the lowest in the country. At a review meeting, the Chief Minister said “This is the lowest rate in the country at this time of year.”

At present, the infant mortality rate in the state has dropped to 38 per 1,000, he announced. Notably, Odisha has consistently been successful in various fields of development and set an example for other states, it has now achieved another milestone in healthcare.

The Chief Minister exhorted everyone to join the development journey of Odisha and bring more laurels for the State.
