Odisha Police Celebrates National Unity Day

Odisha Police Headquarters hosted a state-level National Unity Day celebration this morning at the 6th OSAP Battalion premises in Cuttack.
The event marked the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Crime Branch ADGP Binaytosh Mishra joined as the chief guest. He paid floral tribute to Sardar Patel and received the ceremonial salute during the combined parade. He also led the Unity Pledge, encouraging officers, personnel, and jawans to stay committed to national unity and internal security.
During his speech, Mishra praised Patel’s role in India’s independence and unification. He explained how Patel worked tirelessly to merge 562 princely states into the Indian Union. This effort helped India gain recognition as a sovereign nation across the world.
Mishra urged citizens to promote brotherhood, unity, and harmony. He called for joint efforts to maintain law and order, reduce crime, and build peace throughout Odisha.
The event included cultural and educational activities. Students took part in Run for Unity, drawing contests, essay writing, and debates. Mishra shared that all 34 police districts in Odisha held similar programs to celebrate the day.
The combined parade featured units from the 6th OSAP Battalion (Cuttack), 6th IR Battalion (Khurda), 3rd IR Battalion, Police Colour Party, and Brass Band Party. Commandant Yakub Khan from the 3rd IR Battalion led the parade.
Several senior police officials attended the ceremony, including ADGPs S.K. Priyadarshi, Arun Bothra, Sanjay Kumar, Dayal Gangwar, and Rajesh Kumar. Many officers and staff also joined the celebration.
