Major Narcotics Seizures Reported in Central Range, Cuttack

Cuttack: The Central Range, Cuttack, has achieved major success in its ongoing anti-narcotics drive, with significant seizures of brown sugar and ganja reported across various districts up to October 29, 2025. The latest figures highlight the strong enforcement measures taken by the police to curb drug trafficking and abuse in the region.

A total of 81 cases related to brown sugar have been registered under the Central Range this year. Police have seized 4 kilograms, 22 grams, and 428 milligrams of brown sugar, valued at approximately ₹4.24 crore, and arrested 168 accused persons in connection with these cases. Among the districts, Khordha recorded the highest seizure with 1 kg 616 gms 618 mgs worth ₹1.61 crore and 59 arrests. Puri followed with 1 kg 12 gms valued at ₹94.16 lakh and 37 arrests, while Jagatsinghpur reported 1 kg 95 gms 21 mgs worth ₹98.64 lakh and 41 arrests. Other districts including Cuttack, Kendrapara, Nayagarh, and Jajpur also reported seizures ranging between 16 grams and 169 grams, with values from ₹6 lakh to ₹30 lakh.

Similarly, the range reported 64 cases related to ganja trafficking, resulting in the seizure of 1,107 kilograms and 578 grams of the contraband, valued at ₹72.14 lakh. A total of 105 individuals have been arrested in these cases. Nayagarh district topped the list with the highest seizure of 716 kgs 275 gms worth ₹29.44 lakh and 59 arrests. This was followed by Cuttack with 135 kgs 932 gms worth ₹6.73 lakh and 10 arrests, and Khordha with 98 kgs 424 gms valued at ₹9.84 lakh and 9 arrests. Other districts, including Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Jajpur, also contributed to the overall success of the enforcement campaign.

Officials from the Central Range, Cuttack, reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a drug-free society through strict enforcement and public awareness. They urged citizens to cooperate with the police by providing information on illegal narcotics activities and to actively support efforts aimed at ensuring safer, healthier, and drug-free communities across the region.
