Odisha Govt Sanctions Rs 3.30 Crore for Kartika Brata Arrangements in Puri

Puri: The Odisha Culture Department has sanctioned Rs 3.30 crore for facilities and arrangements for devotees observing Kartika Brata in Puri this year.
The funds will be utilised to provide accommodation, Mahaprasad, darshan of Lord Jagannath and other essential
facilities for Habishyalis during the month-long religious observance. Special arrangements have been made at various Habishyali centres to ensure the safety and comfort of thousands of women visiting the pilgrim town from across the state. Bhajans, kirtans and cultural programmes have also been organised as part of the arrangements.
Kartika Brata is an annual religious observance during which elderly women and widows perform Radha Damodar Puja, worship Tulsi and observe dietary restrictions. Many devotees also visit the Shree Jagannath Temple and consume Habisa once a day throughout the holy month.
