Modi lauds Odisha for cyclone handling

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, June 28: Lauding Odisha’s cyclone preparedness on global platform, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his interaction with Indian Community in Japan highlighted how damage was controlled and losses were kept to minimum in the State in the wake of extremely severe cyclone Fani on May 3.
Modi said, “Recently, India was able to tackle cyclone Fani and many other obstacles with minimal losses and was able to push them back aside. The world appreciated our damage control efforts; how we made use of government resources, human resources and space technology along with other things to perform efficiently.”
“India did it, and did it when elections hustle and bustle was surrounding the nation. We dealt with it optimally,” he added.
Modi is currently in Japan for the G-20 summit.
Modi had earlier also praised Odisha for effectively handling cyclone Fani.
“I must congratulate the state government, the authorities and those involved in evacuations. The work done is commendable. Naveen babu has done good planning. There has been a good coordination between the Centre and the state,” he had said.
