Knife attack on youth & his uncle near Srimandir

Puri: In a shocking incident, there has been a knife attack at Srimandir Uttara Dwara or North Gate and two people have been injured in the incident on Saturday.

According to reports, the youth and his uncle have been attacked with a knife near the North Gate of the Jagannath Temple. The duo has been injured and have been identified as Santosh Kumar Sahoo and Gouranga Sahoo.

Further it is worth mentioning here that the reason of the knife attack is yet to be ascertained. The miscreants are said to be missing after the attack. The Singhadwara police has reached the spot and is investigating in this regard.

Other than the knife attack at Srimandir Uttara Dwara, there have been several security concerns of the famous Puri Jagannath temple in the past few months.

On Friday morning also a drone was spotted flying over Srimandira, the famous Lord Jagannath temple in Puri of Odisha. Importantly, though this space has been declared ‘No flying zone’ how come a drone flied there, is a big question.

As per witnesses, today morning an unidentified drone was seen hovering over the Srimandira. It was flown over the Nila Chakra Patita Pabana flag for some time.

Frequent flying of drones over the famous temple has raised serious concerns on the security of the temple.  It is to be noted that no flying zone was declared over Puri Srimandir keeping the security in mind. Yet, quite a number of such incidents have been witnessed in the last few months.

Meanwhile, the uncountable devotees of Lord Jagannath along with the local residents of Puri expressed serious concerned over the security breach as it occurred just some hours after another similar drone flying incident over the temple. They also urged the police to trace and seize the drone and arrest the persons involved in the illegal activity.

Meanwhile, police is said to have started an investigation into the matter.

On September 10,  a youth attempted to enter into the Jagannath temple in Puri, forcibly while wearing slippers in the early morning hours. He tried to sneak into Srimandir while the ‘Singhadwara’ gates was closed.

According to information, a youth’s forcible attempt to break open into the Jagannath temple situated in Puri was foiled after he was caught by the police and the security personnel on duty at that time.

The Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) tried to stop the man following which there was an altercation between the concerned youth and the officials.

The youth has been identified as Lalu prasad Sahu of Gondia village in Dhenkanal district. The JTP police handed him to the Singhadwara police who is questioning him now.
