Kedarnath Yatra suspended for 3 days due to incessant rains

Rudraprayag: Due to incessant rains and landslide warning the highly-popular Kedarnath Yatra has been suspended for the administration for three days, said reports on Tuesday.
According to reports, daily life in Uttarakhand has been disrupted due to heavy rain. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert today. Along with this, it has requested people not to step out of their homes unless it is essential. In view of safety, the Rudraprayag district administration has closed the Kedarnath Yatra from today for the next three days i.e. till August 14.
Meanwhile, the Rudraprayag DM has issued an advisory for all the pilgrims coming to Kedarnath. For the safety of the pilgrims, they have been warned to stay away from the Kedarnath Yatra. Rudraprayag DM Pratya Jain said that the Dehradun Meteorological Center has predicted heavy rain in many places including Rudraprayag on August 12, 13 and 14. As a precautionary measure for the safety of the pilgrims, the Kedarnath Yatra has been closed.
In addition, the State Disaster Management Department has directed all the departments to be alert during this time. JCB and Pokeland machines have been deployed for 24 hours in the danger areas of the national highway. Immediate action can be taken due to the road blockage. He also said that the water level of the river is being continuously monitored and people living on the banks of the river have been appealed to shift to safer places.

SDRF has requested all passengers to follow the weather conditions and guidelines issued by the administration. The SDRF further said that a Number of passengers have been evacuated.
