ISRO Set to Launch NavIC Satellite NVS-03 Aboard GSLV-F18 Tonight

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is scheduled to launch its navigation satellite NVS-03 at 11:51 PM IST tonight from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The satellite will be carried into space by the GSLV-F18 rocket from the facility’s Second Launch Pad.

The mission marks the 20th flight of India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). NVS-03 is the third satellite in the second-generation NavIC series and is equipped with an indigenous atomic clock to improve positioning accuracy.

India’s NavIC system provides navigation, positioning and timing services across the country and up to 1,500 km beyond its borders. The successful deployment of NVS-03 is expected to strengthen the system’s basic operational capacity, ahead of the planned NVS-04 and NVS-05 missions.
