Internet to Remain Shut in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: At least 6 more persons have been arrested in connection with the violence that erupted during a rally taken out in Sambalpur to mark Hanuman Jayanti. With this, the toll of detainee in the case has reached 85.

According to sources, three of them were arrested in connection with the stone pelting incident and the rest three were held for shop vandalism .

On the other hand, the suspension of internet services has further been extended for another 24 hours as a precautionary measure. The internet services have been suspended till 10 am tomorrow to prevent the spread of hateful and inflammatory messages.

Owing to the inconvenience faced by the residents to buy essential items, the district administration has relaxed the curfew from today. The curfew has been relaxed from 7.30 am to 11.30 am in the morning and from 3 pm to 6.30 pm in the evening.
