Headmaster Nabbed by Vigilance for Taking Bribe

Odisha Vigilance arrested Raghunath Das, Headmaster of Chadeiguan High School near Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district, for taking a Rs 5,000 bribe from a staffer to process arrear salary.

The staffer, who joined the school in August 2025, had not received his salary since joining. He repeatedly requested the headmaster to forward his attendance sheet to the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) at the District Education Office, Kendrapara.

Instead of helping, Sri Das demanded Rs 5,000 to facilitate the salary drawl. The staffer alerted Vigilance officials, who organised a trap. The Vigilance team caught Sri  Das red‑handed while accepting the bribe. Officers recovered the entire Rs 5,000 from his possession and seized it as evidence.

Following the arrest, Vigilance teams conducted simultaneous searches at two locations linked to the accused to examine disproportionate assets. The operation formed part of Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing drive against corruption in public offices.

Cuttack Vigilance registered Case No. 20/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation continues against the accused headmaster.
