Govt to address genuine demands of scribes: I &PR Minister

(Surjit kumar Dhal )Dhenkanal, June 30: State Information and Public Relation Minister Raghunandan Das today assured that the government is alive to the problems of the journalist and will do everything possible to address those.

Addressing the Odisha Union of Journalists’ extended Executive Committee meeting held at SIET conference hall here on Sunday, he said the Government is taking steps to fulfil the various demands raised by the journalists.

“All journalists need to be united while raising their genuine demands. Their unity will help them getting their demands fulfilled,” Das said.

Das said other states have addressed demands of  journalists and this can be done in Odisha also which depends on unity among journalists Union and Journalists.

He lauded the media for providing wider understanding of situation on a daily basis and  activate the Government.

“This apart media continue to provide information without any break,” he added.

Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo and Dhenkanal MLA Sudhir kumar Samal , State OUJ president Prasanna Mohanty  and state functionaries , district union functionaries participated in the meeting.

Later OUJ State president Prasanna Mohanty raised a 13 point- charter of demands such as pension for working journalists, hiking insurance coverage from existing Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and bringing an act for protection of journalists.

Dhenkanal MLA Samal reiterated that he will raise demands of journalists in the current Assembly session .
