Elderly Woman Allegedly Raped and Murdered by Neighbour in Mayurbhanj

Baripada: An elderly woman was allegedly raped and murdered by her neighbour in a shocking incident at Ambikadeipur village under Udala police station limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Raibari Singh, who was living alone at Mahali Sahi in Ambikadeipur village. According to police sources, the accused, Raghu Hembram, allegedly forcibly entered her house in the afternoon.

Police said the accused sexually assaulted the woman and later killed her by striking her with a stone before fleeing the spot. Locals later discovered the incident and informed the police.

Upon receiving the information, Udala police rushed to the scene, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The accused was arrested shortly afterwards, and intensive interrogation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the crime.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the village, with residents expressing outrage and concern over the brutal crime and demanding strict punishment for the accused.
