Actor-Producer Dheeraj Kumar Hospitalized

Mumbai: Veteran director, actor, and producer Dheeraj Kumar has been admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai’s Andheri district after his health deteriorated on Monday. Kumar, who is 79 years old, is suffering from acute pneumonia and is on ventilator support at the ICU, with his situation being critical. Kumar’s family, as per reports, has asked people to pray for his quick recovery while keeping things private amid this tough time.
Kumar’s remarkable career spans several decades, and some of his memorable roles include performances in the films “Roti Kapada Aur Makaan” (1974), “Sargam” (1979), and “Swami” (1977). Bollywood audiences will rememeber Kumar’s classic “Ka Karoon Sajani, Aaye Na Balam” from the film “Swami.” He was also a runner-up of the United Producers and Filmfare talent contest in 1965; he competed along with other noted talents, including Subhash Ghai and Rajesh Khanna.
Apart from his acting talent, Kumar has left a big mark in the background. In 1986, he started Creative Eye Limited, a production house that has produced a string of successful TV serials and religious drama shows. He is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of the company.
