Woman consumes poison after husband’s death

Keonjhar: In a sorrowful incident, a woman consumed poison on Sunday after hearing about the news of her husband’s death. Reportedly, he died after being trampled by an elephant. The incident was reported from Gobindpur village under Tana Gram Panchayat in Bansapala block of Keonjhar district.

According to information, the man, identified as Debadhi Barik had gone to drive away an elephant. Unfortunately, the man was killed after a tusker trampled him under its foot.

He was rushed to the medical by the villagers at night. He succumbed to his injuries today. Soon after, receiving the news of her husband’s demise, the woman- Rukmini consumed poison. She was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Keonjhar for treatment.

Unable to bear the agony of her husband’s death the bereaved woman consumed poison and tried to kill self.
