80 Cattle Rescued from Smuggling Trucks in Sonepur

Sonepur: The Binika police on Wednesday rescued 80 cattle being illegally transported in two trucks in Odisha’s Sonepur district. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the vehicles near Sindol while they were en route from Sambalpur to West Bengal.

One of the truck drivers fled the scene, while the other was apprehended. Authorities are investigating the involvement of others in the smuggling operation and are working to trace the absconding driver.

The rescued cattle have been handed over to the Kamadhenu Goseba Ashram in Piteipali for safekeeping.
