Govt committed to promote quality skill development: Minister

Surjit kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: Minister of SD&TE Usha Devi Wednesday said that State Government is committed to promote quality skill development.

Launching Odisha Skill Development Authority here She said the Government is also keen to provide opportunity to the youths for competing at the world level.

 She expressed her happiness while sharing the recently concluded achievement of Odisha skill winners in India Skills 2018 competition.

Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) Subroto Bagchi said the OSDA has targeted for one lakh registration in  Odisha Skills 2019 competition this year.

“The initiative will help us identify the best talent who could represent India at the World Skills International Competition and bring laurels to the country,” he added.

Secretary SD&TE Sanjay Kumar Singh addressing the event said Odisha is the only state which has started preparation for coming 2021 World Skills Competition.

“The State Govt. has been selected for ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Award 2018’ for skill development in the state,” he added.

Two MoUs were signed on this occasion for promotion of skill development. The online registration for Odisha Skills 2019 has started today and the last date of registration is 31st May 2019.

Odisha Skills will showcase 45 skills ranging from Construction and Building Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Social and Personal Care and Transportation and Logistics.

The winners from these competitions will compete at Regional Competition, where they would compete with winners from other regional state competitions to compete at National Competition.

On this occasion, the valedictory ceremony of Poly & ITI Fest-2019 was also held where all the winners of various events were being felicitated during the inauguration of Odisha Skills 2019 competition.

Among others Director, Employment Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Director, DTE&T Balwant Singh, Additional Secretary Sudarshan Panda and Joint secretary Ajay Nayak were present at the function.
