No Major Impact Of Cyclone Murasu In Odisha, Situation Normal: Chief Secretary

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has so far witnessed no major impact of Cyclone Murasu, which made landfall in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, Chief Secretary Anu Garg said on Tuesday.
Garg reviewed the cyclone’s impact and the state’s preparedness at a meeting with District Collectors, the State Relief Commissioner and the DG of Fire Services.
Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, she said that while light drizzle was reported in some areas, the overall situation remained normal, with no wind activity reported. As a precautionary measure, people living in vulnerable areas had already been evacuated to cyclone shelters. The situation is being closely monitored through various control rooms.
Meanwhile, restoration work in cyclone
affected Ganjam and Gajapati districts, which bore the brunt of heavy rainfall triggered by Cyclone Arnab, is progressing at full pace. The relief package announced by the state government is also being distributed among affected families.
Restoration work at landslide-hit locations, which was temporarily suspended on Monday due to rainfall, resumed on Tuesday morning, Garg informed.
The Central team currently in Odisha to assess cyclone-related damage will visit Gajapati district on Tuesday and Ganjam district on Wednesday. A meeting with the team will be held after the field visits, she added.
