Centre Plans to Expand Drug and Medical Import Hubs

The Union Health Ministry has proposed expanding authorised import points for drugs, medical devices and cosmetics by amending Rule 43A of the Drugs Rules, 1945.

The proposal includes new import facilities at Sonipat, Piyala, Harsaru, Dadri, Noida International Airport, Gandhidham and Whitefield in Bengaluru. The move aims to simplify customs clearance, reduce transportation costs and minimise delays by bringing import facilities closer to warehouses, factories and distribution centres.

The Ministry has invited public objections and suggestions on the proposed amendment through email at [email protected] or by writing to the Under Secretary (Drugs Regulation).
