Chirag Paswan Calls for Quality Upgrades to Boost India’s Rice Exports

Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan has stressed the need to enhance rice quality, promote research and adopt advanced technologies to expand India’s presence in the international rice market.

Speaking at the Bharat International Rice Conference in New Delhi, Paswan said India must focus not only on large-scale production but also on improving product standards and adding greater value to rice. He highlighted traceability, sustainable farming practices and modern processing methods as key areas that require greater attention.

The Minister pointed out that India accounts for nearly 40 per cent of global rice trade, underlining the country’s significant role in the international market. He emphasised that maintaining high quality, encouraging innovation and sharing technological expertise with other nations would help strengthen the country’s export potential.

Paswan also highlighted the importance of the food processing industry in achieving India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The three-day conference is bringing together farmers, rice exporters, industry stakeholders and researchers to exchange ideas, discuss challenges and explore new opportunities for the growth and development of India’s rice sector.
