Fake Spice Factories Busted in Berhampur; 3,000 Kg of Turmeric and Chilli Powder Seized

Berhampur: Police have busted two alleged fake spice manufacturing units in Berhampur and seized around 3,000 kg of adulterated turmeric and chilli powder, along with four milling machines.
The raids were conducted by Badabazar police late Sunday night at units located in Laxmi Nrusingha Nagar’s Seventh Lane and Prahallad Nagar.
During the searches, police found large quantities of loose and packaged turmeric and chilli powder. The spices were allegedly adulterated with colouring agents and rice husk powder before being packed and sold at low
prices in Berhampur and its outskirts.
The units reportedly lacked GST registration, while the spice packets were being sold without proper brand names.
Police also raided a smaller unit in Prahallad Nagar and seized spices and machinery. Two persons have been detained for questioning, and further investigation is underway.
