Somesh Kumar Upadhyay Appointed as New Bhadrak Collector Ahead of Dilip Routrai’s Retirement

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has named IAS officer Somesh Kumar Upadhyay as the next Collector and District Magistrate of Bhadrak, ahead of the retirement of the incumbent district collector, Dilip Routrai.

As per a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department on Thursday, Upadhyay, a 2017-batch IAS officer, will assume charge after Routrai demits office on July 31. He is currently serving as the Director of Textiles and Handloom, Odisha.

The government has also designated Upadhyay as the District Magistrate of Bhadrak under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

Meanwhile, Dilip Routrai, a 2011-batch Odisha State Civil Service (SCS) officer, is scheduled to retire from government service on July 31 after completing his tenure as the district’s Collector and District Magistrate.
