Odisha Floods: 6 Districts, 44 Blocks Affected, 4 Dead

Bhubaneswar: Floods in Odisha have affected 44 blocks across 6 districts so far. Over 2 lakh people in 748 villages have been hit, and 4 people have lost their lives. More than 27,000 houses have been damaged.

Balasore is the worst-hit district. 1,09,429 people in the district have been affected by the floods, and 16,987 houses have suffered damage.

In Bhadrak, 80,000 people have been impacted.

In Jajpur, 11,156 people have been affected.

Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur districts have also reported flood damage.

Hirakud reservoir level rising

Meanwhile, continuous rainfall in the upper catchment areas has led to a steady rise in the water level of the Hirakud reservoir. The water level currently stands at 616.39 feet and is expected to rise further in the coming hours.

Due to persistent rain, inflow into the Mahanadi river and its tributaries has increased sharply, leading to heavy discharge into the dam. In view of this, authorities have urged people in low-lying areas to remain alert and follow all instructions issued by the administration.
