IMD Warns Fishermen Against Venturing into Sea as Rough Weather Likely Along Odisha Coast

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day advisory for fishermen, warning of rough sea conditions and strong winds along the Odisha coast from July 14 to July 18.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, squally weather is expected to prevail over the coastal waters during the period. Wind speeds are likely to range between 40 and 50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph, making the sea rough to very rough.

In view of the expected adverse weather, the IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea until conditions improve. Those who are currently at sea have been urged to return to the coast at the earliest to ensure their safety.
The weather office has also asked residents in coastal areas to remain alert as the sea is expected to remain turbulent throughout the advisory period.
The warning has been communicated to the administrations of all coastal districts, with authorities directed to take necessary precautionary measures and spread awareness among fishing communities to prevent any untoward incidents.
