Heavy rain forecast for Odisha as fresh low-pressure develops ahead of Rath Yatra

Bhuhaneswar: Rain may disrupt the upcoming Rath Yatra festival of Odisha with fresh low-pressure system predicted to emerge in the Bay of Bengal.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s prediction, a cyclonic circulation may emerge over the east-central or northeast Bay of Bengal which will cause heavy to heavy rainfall in the state.
Several districts in northern and western parts of Odisha are predicted to receive rainfall which include – Baleshaw, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada.
Rain is also expected in parts of coastal and south Odisha, but citizens in coastal areas might still be affected by hot and humid conditions even during the rain.
The IMD stated that, Weather is going to become more rainy from July 15. Rain will be witnessed until July 21.
Heavy rain may be witnessed from July 17 to 21 as a result of the low-pressure system, added IMD.
