Odisha SEC begins 2027 Panchayat poll preparations

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Election Commission (SEC) has initiated preparations for the 2027 Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections by convening a high-level video conference with all District Collectors and Magistrates on 21 July 2026.

In a letter issued on 6 July 2026, the OSD-cum-Secretary to the SEC directed district administrations to attend the meeting, scheduled for 11:30 AM via the OSWAN platform under the chairmanship of the State Election Commissioner.

Key agenda items include the review of the door-to-door (D2D) survey for preparation of booth-wise electoral rolls for the 2027 PRI and ULB elections and assessment of pending DC Bills and Utilization Certificates (UCs) related to the 2022 ULB General Elections.

Review of compliance and follow-up will be done on decisions taken in previous meetings.

Additional District Magistrates (ULB Nodal Officers), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant EROs, and other concerned officials have been directed to participate from their respective district OSWAN centres.
