CRPF Jawan loses life after family dispute in Kandhamal

Baliguda: In a tragic incident, a CRPF jawan allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison following a family dispute in Kandhamal district.

The deceased CRPF jawan has been identified as Ashok Behera, resident of Gayatri Colony under Baliguda police station in Kandhamal.

As per reports, Ashok had locked himself inside his room and consumed poison on Monday. When he failed to respond to repeated phone calls from his colleagues and remained inside the locked room for a long time, locals grew suspicious and informed the Baliguda police.

He was immediately rescued and rushed to Baliguda Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Police suspect that Ashok had been under mental stress for a long time due to family discord. The jawan had come home on leave recently. It is suspected that he took his own life because of the family dispute.

The Baliguda police have started a probe into the matter.
