Bus Carrying Wedding Party Overturns in Odisha’s Sonepur, 14 Injured

Bhubaneswar: A bus carrying members of a wedding procession met with an accident in Odisha’s Sonepur district on Sunday morning, leaving more than 14 people injured.
The incident occurred near Mahadevpali outpost at Kartang Chack under Binika Police Station limits. According to reports, the bus was returning from the Boudh area after a marriage ceremony. The passengers, residents of Kamgaon in Bargarh district, were on their way back to the groom’s house when the vehicle reportedly lost control and overturned.
A total of 54 passengers were onboard at the time of the mishap. Locals rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and helped rescue the injured, shifting them to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Among the injured, three persons were admitted to Binika Medical Centre, while 12 others were shifted to the Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital for further medical care.
Police personnel reached the scene soon after receiving information and have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Officials said the reason behind the driver losing control of the vehicle is being examined.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to ensure the injured passengers return safely to their homes after receiving proper treatment. No fatalities have been reported in the incident so far.
